In Vitro Study:

New hesperidin induces apoptosis in human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells. The IC50 values of neohesperidin at 24 and 48 hours were 47.4 ± 2.6, respectively μ M and 32.5 ± 1.8 μ M。 The expression of p53 and Bax was significantly up-regulated in neohesperidin treated cells, while the expression of Bcl-2 was down regulated [1]. Neohesperidin showed antioxidant activity in DPPH radical scavenging test (IC50 = 22.31 μ g/ mL)[2]。

In Vivo Study: neohesperidin (50mg / kg) significantly inhibited 55.0% HCl / ethanol induced gastric injury. In pylorus ligated rats, neohesperidin (50 mg / kg) significantly reduced gastric secretion and gastric acid output and increased pH [1]. Neohesperidin treatment significantly reduced fasting blood glucose, blood glucose and glycosylated serum protein (GSP) in mice. It significantly increased oral glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, and reduced insulin resistance in diabetic mice. Neohesperidin significantly reduced serum triglycerides, total cholesterol, leptin levels and liver index in mice [3].

Animal Experiment: mice: All mice fasted 6 hours before the test, and then were fed with water or neohesperidin by forced feeding. For OGTT and ITT, mice were injected intraperitoneally with 2G / kg BW glucose or 1iu / kg BW insulin, respectively. Blood samples were collected from the caudal vein to measure basal blood glucose levels (0 minutes) before injection of glucose or insulin. Additional blood glucose levels were measured at 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes [3].
